A quill is a useful attachment for spinning crazy-bulky yarn that won't fit through the flyer orifice, or for spinning delicate fiber with virtually no tension. You insert it into the miniSpinner's orifice and then spin off the tip of the quill.
Many people purchase the 6.5mm quill to use as a bobbin winder for inexpensive storage bobbins or weaving bobbins, thereby making their miniSpinner an electric bobbin winder. Note: 6.5mm is slightly larger than the 1/4" hole in HansenCraft bobbins so they cannot be used with the quill as a bobbin winder. The ideal storage bobbins are inexpensive paper bobbins or plastic weaving bobbins or pirns.
