Very happy to recieve the eyelet guide replacement. After reading some reviews I was a bit intimidated with the instalation process but it installed very simply and I'm up and spinning again.
I was glad that I read the reviews and ordered a couple of extras, because I broke the first one trying to install it. Following the instructions just did not work. For the second one, I used a pair of pliers to open the wire loop up slightly, so that it fits a bit more loosely (but still snug). That let me get the eyelet in without shattering it.
As luck would have it, an inadvertent tug and the yarn wrapped around and broke the ceramic eyelet. The replacement came very quickly and I'm back in business again!
This is the second eyelet I have tried to replace the original broken one. My spinning friend who has done this before had one break on her. Then my mechanically inclined husband tried to insert one and it also broke. I am out of people who are willing to try to put on this thing.
While I regret the mistake that made it necessary to change out an eyelet I was delighted to find that the replacement was very easy to install. Another great design feature!

A must have when one breaks
There was so much about how tough these were to replace. I found that it just went right into place. I know how I broke it and now I know how easy it is to insert if (when) I pack badly again ;-)
Wonderful customer service! Thanks for the Tip of the Week showing how to insert the ceramic eyelet on the flyer. They are delicate but work great.
I ordered 5 but broke 4 trying to replace the large hook on the right front of the flyer (not the slide guide). Trying to hold the hook open with needle nose pliers (I couldn't bend it with my fingers) and insert the delicate ceramic eyelet was very difficult and I was worried about breaking the eyelet, hook or worse damaging the flyer. I had to finally bend the hook (not easy to do) and then try to bend it back with the eyelet in place. Please find a replacement for these eyelets, something less delicate and breakable! These work well once in but are just too fragile.
The eyelets work well in the flyers and help making yarn easy.

These eyelets make such a difference in how smoothly the yarn flows to the bobbin ! I found them a little difficult to install at first but once I caught on how to do it there was no problem. Customer service was superb, and having the ability to track their journey from the US to Canada was a bonus.
These snap in and out easily but they break very easily.
I've managed to break a couple of these. (ALWAYS wait till the flyer stops spinning to reach across!). One was in pieces, and I didn't know it was broken. The spinner was making horrible rattling noises, and I thought I'd done something terribly wrong to it. When I finally realized the eyelet was broken, I replaced it, and no more noise.
The glide of the yarn across this special ceramic material cannot be imagined till you experience it. I feel bad for all the years I let simple metal suffice for me: )
I managed to break two of these, again. shipped quickly, and I needed them to keep the wheel balanced.
these little gadgets really keep your yarn moving smoothly--just watch out for people that talk with their hands and make large swooping motions around your e-spinner
irreplaceable little critters - just be careful when placing them in yarn guides. it isn't always easy lol!
